It is always an incredibly happy and satisfying day when MetCon’s accreditation as a member of the Responsible Jewellery Council and our dual certification (in the form of Code of Practice and Chain of Custody) is renewed. The Responsible Jewellery Council’s Code of Practices are the only independently verified sustainability standard for the global jewellery and watch industry. They cover the entire supply chain, from mine to retail. As such, we are pleased and proud to declare our platinum provenance.
Our Declaration
Metal Concentrators SA (Pty) Ltd declares that the platinum used in our jewellery manufacturing process is sourced directly from a London Platinum and Palladium Market (LPPM) member in South Africa.
The platinum used in MetCon’s manufacturing process is mined material from South African producers and the supply chain was verified in accordance with the RJC Code of Practice and Chain of Custody requirements. The platinum was refined using processes that meet international environmental standards.
Rest assured that the ethical standards of a MetCon product, from metal through process to piece, are of the finest in the world.
The universe at your fingertips
One of the rarest precious metals in the world, the platinum we hold in our hands most likely arrived in a colossal meteor shower billions of years ago. Today, you may find it lending its shine and longevity to the creation of jewellery and wealth products. Fortunately for us, the vast majority of Earth’s platinum reserves are on our doorstep. Thanks to the rich reserve of the Bushveld Igneous Complex, South Africa is currently the world’s leading platinum supplier.
With every product and service, we tell a story. Our platinum provenance is integral to our sustainability story, as is sourcing precious metals legitimately and responsibly.
Why is platinum provenance important?
Platinum’s immense value puts it at risk. Platinum provenance — that is, its proof of origin — is important because it means sustainability; social, economic and environmental. Provenance ensures we are working with a vetted and verified supply chain in which all people and practices have been audited by international specialists. Provenance ensures a conflict-free resource that has in no way contributed to terrorism, perpetuation of war or the compromise of human rights. Platinum that is responsibly sourced should, in fact, maintain and sustain the environments and countries from which it originates.
Our Provenance Mark
Our unique mark of provenance is our pride, and your guarantee of superior quality and traceable origin. It is inspired by the San people, indigenous hunter-gatherers of Southern Africa. Regarded to be the earliest inhabitants of the region, the San are born of the cradle of humankind.
